Love of my life. Can you have more than one love of your life? It would seem by the words that it would entail, one life, one man. I disagree, there have been four men that have come and gone into my life that were true love. At different stages of my life I've felt true, grand love. At least that's what I think it was. My current true love I believe to be my soul mate. I don't think I've been able to say this about any other man. This love of my life stands out because of this. I believe you can feel that someone is the love of your life without actually being your soul mate. They just come into your life when you need to feel high on life. Is the high worth the pain at the end? I would say yes about the three who I loved and lost. Each one gave me something, taught me something or generally helped me through troubled times. Two of them suited me at the stage I was at in my life but they weren't the 'one'. The third was the grand affair in my life in more ways than one.
So how does this become the differences between men and women? I believe men can bounce back from a painful ending to a grand love quicker than women. Women are more emotional than men, they take the end of a relationship harder than a man. At least that is what I've seen from experience. Men are usually the ones who bounce back and find another love quicker. Out of all my loves, the men are the ones who find their new woman. We are still getting over the pain of heartache and they are already dating someone new. A couple of my boyfriends (including one of my grand loves) married the next girlfriend they had. I wasn't starting think I was the girl to date if you wanted to get married to someone else or soon. I was the platform to marriage.
Of course this doesn't men all men bounce back quickly, on the contrary, but as a whole, I do believe it takes a woman longer to bounce back. Men also don't necessarily believe in love of your life, soul mate, grand love, they just tend to go with the flow. They simply love and be there for their loved one. I would be interested to survey men about love of their life and find out exactly how many do actually believe in it. Instead I have to speculate.
So what can we determine about loves of our lives?
If you love that grand love once in your life you're fortunate. If it he happens to be your soul mate and then in turn your life long partner, even better. All I know is the high was worth the pain.
